At Vital Ventures we’re BIG on time management for so many reasons.
When you think about traveling one could come up with various constraints but one is definite and almost unavoidable for most people: time. You can be constrained by money but can always opt for cheaper food options and activities to stretch it out. You can be constrained about how far down the road you can get, but then again we’ve taken a few truck bed rides before. But time, time is something nobody can get back and trips, vacation, or holiday are usually defined by time. It’s one of the main reasons we started Vital Ventures in the first place. Yes to stay organized, but also to know what your doing next so there is no wasted time in between!
We understand how valuable vacation or time off can be and we want you to be able to make the best use of it. We’re also not saying that lounging by the pool or sitting at a cafe having a great conversation is wasted time, everyone needs some R&R. But as long as it’s not time sitting around not knowing what to do next, frantically searching for wifi to look what there is to do around you. This is why we think time management is so important, so here we will go into some tips and tricks about managing your next vacation efficiently so you will have more time to enjoy!
We know that the last thing you want to do is make vacation a time managing JOB that just happens to be an extension of work. No, not at all. If vacation and traveling to a new place is getting there and winging it, go for it. We certainly don’t think that there is one right way to travel. Everyone has different methods that lie within their comfort zone and that work for them which is perfectly fine.
Only you are the judge of time well spent!
First thing you should ever do when planning a trip is to obviously plan it on our online itinerary planner at Vital Ventures! With our downloadable itinerary it can keep you on track with all of the things you want to do and lets you visualize the day to see what’s ahead!
Back up plans really make or break a vacation/trip because in reality, no one ever knows what’s going to happen. You could end up losing your passport and have to spend a few hours at your embassy or get invited to a glamorous party by a wealthy local and your day has completely changed! And those are the extremes lol. Most of the time when we think of the need for a back up plan its for an outdoor activity that has been delayed or canceled due to inclement weather. But overall, you should always have a good backup list of activities you can sub in at any moment in case of any changes to your itinerary. We usually like to have from three to seven different backups depending on how long the trip is. And there will be times you don’t even have to sub any in or in other instances you will have spare time one day where you can actually sneak a few extras in your schedule!
Or close to where all the things you want to do are located! Not having to trek 20 miles to where all of your desired attractions are make the trip so much more enjoyable and save so much time by staying near where you want to be! Walking around is great exercise and we highly recommend this over taking taxis/ubers to attractions that are close. Plus this makes it safer all around if your planning on hitting the town and having a few drinks! Travel safely my friends!
Once again you’ll save so much time in case of unexpected lines or the day the summer camp with 200 children get in line right before you. If you know your going to an attraction that requires a ticket then buy ahead of time. Or if you don’t know if you want to see the attraction yet you can go by there one day to talk with some of the venue staff to see if its worth it, buy the tickets that night online and go the next day!
This may seem like a no brainer but I know on some trips when I was young and trigger happy I would want to do all of the top priorities first which in turn would take me zig zagging across places I wasn’t familiar with. It turns out the next day I would end right next to some of the attractions I saw the day before which logistically doesn’t make any sense and really doesn’t take that much time to plan out. You can take any map, digital or physical, and literally pin point all of the locations to see which activities and attractions to piece together. (One of the perks of planning your trip on Vital Ventures!)
One of the greatest treasures of traveling is sampling the local food scene (or for us foodies it is)! But this can all be streamlined with a little planning. I know that one of the first things I look at when I choose a destination to visit is what cuisines it’s known for and what some of the restaurants I would be interested in. By doing this you won’t be upset you skipped the hotel breakfast or that you missed out of the local hole in the wall.
We have certain dietary restrictions and try to eat as healthy as possible so we make sure that we can get our daily nutritional goals from places near by. This is why we have this as a priority of ours but understand it’s different for everybody!
We hope this resonates with you all and hope to have inspired you in your next endeavors!! Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to see more blogs like this one.
