Do you have that traveler in your family that always seems to be on an adventure and they just aren’t around enough for you to really know what they want or need? Well look no further because we consider ourselves as those people and any traveler would appreciate any of these gifts!
There are many different travelers out there so we wanted think of a gift for types of traveler there might be or at least start the brainstorming for you!
This is a great gift for travelers of all ages, those who are just beginning their life of adventure or for the seasoned pro. It almost adds an achievement element to traveling and offers a great visual of where you have been and where to go next (or possibly go back). Plus when you scratch off the next place it feel like you actually won money! They’re fun, can generate inspiration for the next adventure or bring back memories when looking at this scratch off map on your wall. There are many offered on amazon and our only advice would be to look at the size of the map in the product description before purchasing because some of the images can be deceptive on the size of the map (personally I love huge maps and the first one I ordered ended up being much smaller than I thought it would be).
This is a great gift for the traveler who always seems to be on a plane, train, or long car rides. Yes, we’re talking about the sleeper. Neck pillows are nothing new. There are the OG uncomfortable stiff foam block, the micro beads that never seem to settle in the right position, speakers, massagers, wires and strings all of which can be a hassle for sub par comfort… until now! The Trtl pillow lets you, dare I say, actually enjoy the middle seat, as it’s a fleece wrap with a neck brace that is so simple it’s hard to believe we just found out about it. Great for planes and trains that seem to be freezing the entire voyage and no more falling asleep on the random person next to you.
Now we’re not here to put the blame on anyone, but through our experience it seems that flight attendants aren’t tested on their bartending skills during the application process. Now not everyone can craft a cocktail 30,000 feet in the air but if all you needed was a little airplane bottle and a glass to make that old fashioned a reality, it wouldn’t be the worst flight experience. This is where W&P comes in to enhance any flight experience with SEVEN signature carry on cocktail kits offering anything from a Bloody Mary to wind things down a bit, to a classic Margarita to spice things up. Most kits comes with essential syrups, packets and garnishes for said drinks, a coaster, mixing spoon, and cocktail card. Now all you need is the select spirit from the beverage cart and a glass to enjoy the rest of your flight. Cheers!
Now this would be for the adventurer that either is always without power outlets or the traveler who just forgets to use them. Either way mistakes happen even when your so far out in the wilderness and an extra charge is always nice. External batteries come in many designs with different features. For the one always out in the wilderness look features such as rechargeable with solar energy, shock/water/dust resistant, flashlight, compass, multiple outlets but most importantly if its needed for long periods of time look for the one with the biggest power bank for the least amount of weight. This can be key for when your pack is getting heavy. As for the other adventure, again consider the weight and storage of the charger as well as number of ports and charging options. In the link is a simple, high capacity charger from Anker who is one of the respected names in this type of product. PS – along with features to consider when buying one of these is the actual charging capacity (measured in mAh), where the higher the number the larger charging capability.
Now this one could be for anyone but especially the one who want to capture the moment with more than just pictures. We’ve found that writing about our experiences abroad create more vivid memories and can be a fun way to explore the literary realm which many of us think we’re not good enough for. On one side it can be just you and your thoughts and no one will ever see it but it will be special for you and on the other you may find out that you’re a much better writer than you thought you were and that you actually love it. Then down the road when you become a NYT best selling author feel free to contact us and let us know that we started a fulfilling career for you! (and maybe send some signed copies our way!)
This can be a great gift for either the extremely organized or unorganized traveler in your life. Have you ever been behind someone as your about to go through security and they somehow have 15 items in their pockets that have to be taken out and sorted through, and three bins later you can finally get yourself ready to go through security. Well if you happen to know this person (all of us do) let’s help them out with this passport wallet to help them stay organized (and for the sake of everyone else).
Now these anti theft bags are really neat and are starting to become more popular. One of the unfortunate parts of traveling is that many times you can be picked out by locals as being a tourist, even if your not doing the most stereotypical touristy things. If you find yourself in the wrong neighborhood or look like an easy target then this can lead to easy theft, especially when a bag is on your back with large zippers and in a crowded area. Some of these people are professional thefts or pick-pocketers so considering one of these anti-theft bags for a loved one that spends some time abroad isn’t the worst idea. Most have all the zippers located in a position closest to the back of the individual so if someone were to try and open it the person would in theory feel the tussle or the bag moving or feel it open. Some even have zipper locks and can be tear proof. Be sure to check out all the reviews before purchasing one so you get the perfect bag!
This one is for the one that can’t tend to stay still. Right as you get one postcard from somewhere in Europe the next is coming from Africa and Asia and then all of a sudden their home for a week before heading right back out. Well this is the type of person that would need a universal travel adaptor. It’s compatible for over 150 countries with its four different configurations and can really come in handy even as a backup if they already have one.
Now this is one of our all time favorite pieces of travel equipment and we bring them on almost every trip we go on. Eagles Nest Outfitters has in our opinion made the best travel hammock available. It folds up in a small-attached pouch and coupled with some Atlas Straps it’s the ultimate addition to any trip, anywhere. On most camping trips we don’t even bring tents anymore and just use these, and it really gets fun when you start hanging them high in the canopies and sleep with the birds! We’ve even found ourselves setting them up indoors when we can and when you find that perfect beachside tree your relaxation meter just went up a few notches. So when you get this for the traveler in your life go ahead and get yourself one as well but two things.
Now go choose from their endless selection of colors and enjoy every trip you take from now on even more!
Nice Or Fun Camera
Now this gift could really be for any traveler not just the professional photojournalist traveler and you really don’t have to blow the bank. A good travel camera is one that is compact and easy to transport but still can capture the perfect image with different adjustable settings. For that we recommend either the Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II or the Canon EOS Rebel SL1 Digital SLR . The Powershot is cute, compact, light, and easy to use. Point, shoot, all of a sudden your in National Geographic. All jokes aside this is a great professional entry level camera that won’t weigh you down that is easy to use, what more could you ask for? As for the EOS, it’s definitely a step above the Powershot with the ability to adjust more setting and change additional accessories but will cost you a little more money and weight. Canon started the EOS series over 30 years ago and it’s no wonder it’s a household name. One of the leaders and innovators of digital photography you simply cannot go wrong with a Canon.
The Action Camera
It’s here, it’s brand new, and it’s awesome! GoPro has really raised the bar when it comes to video stabilization from a small hand held or mounted action camera. Last years HERO 6 did a pretty good job but could only shoot stabilized video at 30fps and could still be shaky at times. Now, the new HERO 7 allows video to be shot in 4k at 60fps with the new ‘Hypersmooth’ electronic image stabilization setting active. If you don’t believe us go check out the now hundreds of reviews between different cameras and the HERO 7 to see the proof! Waterproof, 4k, stabilized video and can be mounted to almost anything…what more could you ask for in a camera that fits in your pocket?
ALSO – be on the look out for our very own VitalVentures Youtube channel to come out soon with our own HERO 7 videos!
And now for the fun camera. For those who are old enough do you remember the good ole simple days of Polaroid cameras?
Well the Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 has brought polaroid’s back and at a whole new level. We love using this camera for that different vintage look that we had as kids!
