The ultimate beer drinking festival known across the world is celebrated here in Munich, Germany. Even though most places try to host their version of the Oktoberfest, this one is by far the largest festival with a whopping 6.2 million attendants in 2017 and over 7.5 million liters of beer sold. This is a highly recommended festival to those who love beer and can join millions of others who are just alike. In 1810, Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on October 12th and citizens of Munich were all invited to attend on the fields in front of the city gates to celebrate. Since then, this event has been marked as a day for horse racing for the Royal Family and turned into a festival for all of Bavaria. This year marks the 183rd annual celebration since the King Ludwig’s marriage.
This historic event that has been around for centuries is one that everyone should experience. Even if you don’t like beer, there is plenty of activities and Bavarian pretzels to enjoy during the festivities!!!
