The Caribbean Sea is probably what most people dream about while the below freezing temperatures take over their cities and home towns. For those who live in the Northern Hemisphere know that this is your chance to flock towards brighter and warmer places to soften the blow from these winter winds. Why not bring the whole family with you? Below we have list of the top rated places in the Caribbean so you can start planning ahead for Spring Break!!
The Piton Mountains, Gros Piton and Petit Piton, are two volcanic mountain plugs that were created when magma hardened within the neck of an active volcano and lie on the south western border of the island. They were recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004 so you can imagine how a mountain must look to be recognized in such a way. Other than being home to some of the most picturesque mountains, St. Lucia has beautiful beaches, botanical gardens and hiking trails. Snorkeling, scuba diving, waterfall chasing, zip-lining, and better yet, relaxing! So bring the family and enjoy an adventure on this amazing well rounded island!
Cartagena is one of those cities where you can get everything in one package when you visit. From decadent, rich foods, clear ocean shores, and deep rooted history dating back to the 1600s all wrapped in this large, established city. Take a couple days to explore the cobblestone streets of the Old Town with extravagant churches, plazas and museums because there are several to see. Next, make sure to visit the most important attraction of history: the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas and the many sculptures and monuments that are recognized throughout the city such as Los Zapatos Viejos and the Clock Tower Monument. If you are able to take a couple days for relaxing on the beach, take a boat ride to either Isla de Baru or Islas del Rosario for stunning beaches and coral reefs.
If you’re up to explore a place that’s completely out of the ordinary beach spot, then this is the place you want to start with. Bocas Del Toro is located in the closest province to Costa Rica. Here, there are several islands that make up this unique surfer’s location such as: Isla Colon, the main island with Bocas Town, Isla Bastimentos, with Wizard Beach where the waves here are well known, and Isla Cristobal, with a sightseeing for the bottlenose dolphins. Make sure you book your place closest to the Bocas Town so that you are able to check out the many small town shops, restaurants, and nightlife. We recommend taking time out of your visit to see Starfish Beach where the infamous, massive starfish live and Cayos Zapatilla where you can snorkel to see the coral reefs. Bocas del Toro will fancy the adventure enthusiast and the relaxed beach lover so for whichever end of the spectrum you lie, this place is for you!!
Aruba, the infamous island mentioned in the Beach Boys song, is on the line up for being one of the best places to go in the Caribbean especially due to their beautiful consistent weather all year round. Countless white sandy beaches that are all to die for, a volcanic peak with amazing views, an underwater shipwreck for the snorkelers and more. We do want to delve in deep into one particular beach: Eagle Beach. Well known for its soft sands, gentle waters, and for a variety of sea turtles nesting grounds. With all of these reasons we are certain as to why Aruba is usually chosen to be a honeymoon destination!
The Great Blue Hole is a massive ocean sinkhole dating over 150,000 years old and lies off of the coast of Belize. The Great Blue sinkhole is one of the world’s best diving places and goes about 410 feet deep. This amazing attraction is part of the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here the main activity is scuba diving because of the crystal clear waters and the vast marine life that can only be found in this deep part of the ocean. If the Discovery Channel ranks the Great Blue Hole on “The 10 Most Amazing Places on Earth” list, then you know it’s a great place to visit!!
